Q:
Do they take credit cards now????? Used to be cash only at one time. Thanks.
A:
We Have always taken credit cards. If we were only taking cash it was because the POS system was down.

Came here because it was highly recommend among the Albuquerque community.
All I can say is it is indeed chicken and waffles. It's a classic that needs no introduction and often doesn't need too many changes. Frank's does the basics justice. Nothing too out there, just chicken...and waffles.
The service was going as fast at they could but it seems the establishment doesn't hire enough staff for weekend rush hour so service was a bit slow despite the staff seemingly running the equivalent of marathon each hour.
Overall, good experience. Will come back once in a while when I'm craving chicken.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 162405621Mar 2, 2024
Review for take out
I ordered 12 piece wings for delivery and was pleasantly surprised to find the wings still perfectly crispy, and they remained so throughout my entire meal. Part of the reason is likely due to the nature of the batter. It's thick with a hard crunch to it. I prefer a thinner, glass shattering crisp but do appreciate that it holds up well over time. As that is a matter of preference, I wouldn't deduct points for it. My main complaint is that the chicken meat was super dry. It's rare to get a chicken wing that doesn't have some moistness because they're hard to overcook, but they somehow managed it.Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 1 - James M.Albuquerque, NM149331Feb 23, 2024
I hate to write this review. When the food is good it is really good. When it is bad it is really bad.
There are several things that make it bad. The oil being old. The chicken being overcooked and burnt in the old oil. The heating light for food waiting to be picked up either not working or just not turned on, and the ventilation leading to the whole place having a thick layer of old oil particles stuck to it. Yes it is a fried chicken joint and some oil build up is expected but this is bad.
The other and worse component is the service. I get it, you are busy, you are tired, you are overworked. But having to flag down another server to get our food off of the counter because the server assigned to us going some where after every work action and just leaving the food to sit.
This has happened multiple times. Cold food. Attitude when bringing up the cold food and length of time it has sat there.
It is dining roulette. If there are two of us, one is going to have a good meal and the other terrible. Four people two or three will be good and one person sits there with no food and then gets cold food fifteen minutes after everybody else. Come with a group of more than four, well everybody gets cold food.
If you can't run a restaurant with waited tables then change the model to ordering at a counter and self serve and let people get their food themselves.
Tonight was my 8th time eating there going back to the old restaurant on San Mateo. Not doing it again. 3/8 were good experiences. Hopefully somebody else comes along with similar food. The market seems to be wide open. The lack of competition is quite obvious.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Crystal D.Albuquerque, NM1091815Apr 30, 2024

Wow. Moved to NM from Gorgeous Prince George's County, MD. My wife grew up there and said the restaurant feels like it could be located in Bowie. The honey hot wings were scrumptulecent! The grits were hearty. The butter and syrup savory and sweet. The waffles hold syrup and butter and wrap around the chicken nicely. A Belgian Waffle Option would we swell. For the Owner, find "Taste of Belgium" in Cincinnati, OH.
Hunty said the Nashville hot wings were perfect! Was pleased there were Mimosas of offer.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 530120Oct 19, 2023
Love love LOVE FRANK'S! Everything you order is always hot, fresh, seasoned perfectly, and delicious! We've been here several times but today we decided to sit outdoors in the patio area which was new for us. We took our dog and a waitress brought him water right away without us asking. Drinks were brought out quickly as was our food. The waitress was friendly and helpful and got everything perfectly!
We usually get the chicken and waffles but today we opted for sandwiches. We ordered the chicken sandwich and the shrimp po boy. We also ordered a hot link and some tenders. All superb!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 5784107Feb 9, 2024
Date night for us. So we tried Franks chicken and waffles. We were really disappointed. I got the wings and waffles. I am not a waffle eater but husband is. The waffles were not crispy but thin and flimsy. The buffalo wings were tasty the other wings lacked seasoning. The okra again lacked seasoning. My husband got the chicken fried steak. It was a very small portion, the potatoes were cold and was underwhelming. While eating dinner I had to sit across from a lady who had a chihuahua at her table, on the seat, and fed it off her plate. I told the waitress who did nothing. Overall we will not be back.

I sat alone at the bar. It was around lunchtime. I ordered wings, a waffle, collards, and mac&cheese. The wings were basic and nothing special. The waffle was served cold, surprising since I was in front of the kitchen. But, not surprising given the fact that they did not have dedicated food runners so my food was waiting for my server to return to the kitchen to bring me my order. The collard greens were ok, but could have been better spiced. And the mac&cheese was just OK. Frankly, there was nothing I ate that I haven't had elsewhere better. Service was fine, but since I was at the mercy of a server that wasn't just working the counter, it was less than responsive. Overall, no reason to not recommend, but also no reason to return. Middle of the road food at prices that are higher than the quality justifies.

Delicious! I saw a episode of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives that featured Franks Famous Chicken and Waffles and knew I had to try.
I had the 4 piece tenders with bacon pecan waffles. Although I was extremely hungry, I was only able to eat half of it. The chicken tenders are perfectly breaded and have a hint of cayenne flavor. The waffles were huge and the bacon pecan topping was amazing.
Is is quite loud in the restaurant so you can't have a normal conversation and since everything is cooked to order, be prepared to be there longer than the standard lunch hour.
I definitely recommend Franks Famous but don't let your eyes get bigger than your stomach. The food is very filling.Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0
